Mine blossom out on September 9 , 2010 . I had a fun idea : I desire to start a web log . I took a picture of my summertime harvest home and wrotemy first post .
I wrote about anything and everything : seedling , sunsets , surfing , make potting mix . “ subject matter ” was simple back then because I did n’t see it as mental object , I just wanted to apportion what made me felicitous . And if I could get a free pair of garden clogs out of it , hooray !

But exactly one year later , out of the blue sky , I wasawarded “ Best Gardening Blog ” by Country Living magazine , in a clock time when web log were still quirky and novel and something you did as a hobby .

For the retiring 10 years , this petty space has always been where I wanted to spend my time . When I started my web log and give it a funny name ( which I ’ll get into in a minute ) , I did n’t vex about who was going to read my words or like my post ( mostly because I did n’t think anyone would ) .
I just wanted to write , run in my garden , and practice taking pictures of it .
Somewhere along the way , you joined me in this journey and I ’m so beaming you did . Your curiosity , benignity , and enthusiasm has pushed me to learn something novel every 24-hour interval so I can share it with as many people as potential .
Without you , Garden Betty would not be what it is today .
But about that name … I want to blog about my garden . And I wanted to infuse a little personality into the name , so I decided to apply a nickname I ’d always had in California — Betty — a moniker given to a lady friend in the skate / surf / snow scene .
Garden Betty . The world was available , and I bought it that day . No persuasion whatsoever as to stigmatisation , trademarks , any of that .
To be honest , if I ’d known it was going to turn into a job , I might ’ve gone with a unlike name . But it ’s short and catchy and I ’ve get used to suffice to Betty ( while also answeringlotsof consultation about how the name derive about ) .
