Today ’s photos are from our good friend Sheila Schultz out in Denver ( late postsHERE . ) She says,“As many of you screw , I populate in Denver and I am passionate about using succulent and cacti in my container gardens . They can not survive our winters outside , so thanks to my marvellous husband and Word - in - jurisprudence they are all ' muscled ' inwardly before the even temps go below 40 degree , generally mid to tardy September . The big boys take up all the windowpane space on the first storey , and the eternal rest go up to the ' greenhouse ' , which are two bedrooms on the 2d floor . Jim , my most patient married man , adjusts the lighting where potential . He found arms / rail-splitter that get screwed into the can lights in the ceiling , each holding 2 CFL bulb . Our light switch have timer , each set for 12 hour of light a day . The vents are fill up in the nurseries and the rut is turned down to the mid-50 ’s . I also supply buff on timer in each way to circulate the air which has made a vast impact on wintertime pest ! Watering … only when necessary . Many of my C & S are dormant in the wintertime . By May , the plant are good to head outside and I am more than ready to get them out of the house! An aside … as many of you know , Colorado was the first state to legalize the development of marijuana . Thank good our neighbors know that I am haunt with my plants , so they have n’t foretell the police to report the light source glow at all hours with plants in the forefront of most of my window ! ! ! BTW , I have also include a few of my houseplants , patently we are shower , not bath , folks!Enough of the interior , spring will eventually come , so the external photos were taken a few ago before we mother more snow . In Colorado , our winter temporary worker are like a roller coaster , 70 ’s one day , teens the next . Unfortunately we had several daytime of 70 degree weather of late , so my perennial and bulbs are more than lost . All the increase makes me hopeful , but being a realist , it may be an expensive spring , especially since we had a really hard and unexpected November frost before the plants , shrub , and trees had a hazard to harden off . So many opportunities for Modern plants , I guess?I will cease this with our girls , Coriander and Cayenne . They are so over this works thing!“Oh , I just want to snuggle up with those pups , Sheila ! I admire your perseverence with overwintering . I gave up a couple of years ago . I would get lashings of plants in , and then never irrigate them ! frightful , I know … .. But when it ’s winter , I can not get my head into any kind of physical gardening , even though I think and rest it at work ! Bravo .
