Midsummer has hit my garden , and I am in erotic love with the riot oftexture , colour , and odor . It is a dizzying raiment and so psyche - satisfying to me . The summertime colour are awesome , and it makes all of the digging , weeding , planting , and trim deserving it just to look around at what is growing !
I also now have a nursery . My new greenhouse is full of chilipeppersI rise from seed . I have a go at it it . It ’s just a small one , but it ’s the perfect size for me to play in !

Purple coneflowers ( Echinaceahybrids , Zones 5–9 ) have come a long way in recent years , and this beautiful white , double - flowered form is just sensational . It looks like it might be the smorgasbord ‘ shake ’ .
But well old - fashionedEchinaceapurpurea(Zones 3–9 ) is always pretty great too , and much be intimate by a wide range ofpollinators .
Carla ’s summer garden is a public violence of coloring material , with many day lily ( Hemerocallis , Zones 4–10 ) variety taking center stage .

Literally thousands of young daylily hybrids are introduced each year , in an ever expanding range of colors and patterns . This soft lavender is particularly beautiful .
Some daylily lovers like full , round , ruffled flowers .
you may also find daylily varieties with longer , smoother flower petal for a star - shape bloom . Carla enjoys the full compass of daylily diverseness .

dependable lilies are often a little fussier than their daylily relative , but their individual blooms last longer , and many , like this Oriental lily ( Liliumhybrid , Oriental group , Zones 5–9 ) , boast a powerfulfragrance .
This bright red daylily andpanicle hydrangea(Hydrangeapaniculata , Zones 3–9 ) attend nifty together , and both are durable , easy - to - develop plants .
Thisbigleaf hydrangea(Hydrangeamacrophylla , Zones 5–9 ) has strange multicolored blooms , and look like it might be the variety ‘ Pistachio ’ .

Carla ’s new greenhouse is currently filled with very happy Madagascar pepper industrial plant , which enjoy the excess warmth and longer get time of year a greenhouse provides .
