The great snowfall bode for the Southeast did indeed number . We had about eight column inch on our farm here in the upstate of South Carolina . I realize that is n’t much by Buffalo standard , but for us it ’s enough to send off the local news cameras out on the road in the Leslie Townes Hope of trip up some spinning automobilist who does n’t grasp the fact our local administration do n’t have fleets of snow removal vehicle on paw .
Since this is not normal for us , and for many others , I ’ve been getting questions about what to do when there is snow on the roses .
The answer quite simply is nothing .

A dear friend the late Mike Lowe who live on and acquire rosebush in New Hampshire , told me he welcomed the coke in winter . It acts as an dielectric for the rose and anything else underneath it for that matter . He told me the act of water freezing make friction in the molecules and that create heat . Because of this the temperatures underneath the snow never get below 32 degrees . so the snowfall acts just like a prissy blanket and protects whatever is beneath it .
That ’s why citrus Fannie Farmer spray their trees with water before a freeze . The methamphetamine hydrochloride , like snow , actually insulates it .
So if it snows on your roses do n’t worry about . depend at it like a nice blanket protect them from those cold temperatures and winds . And as it melt , Mother Nature ’s own drip irrigation organization !

So allow it bamboozle !
