In a Vase on Monday. November.
‘ Noshade , no shine , no butterflies , no bees ,
No fruits , no flowers , no leave-taking , no birds-
November ! ’ Thomas Hood .

Clearly , Thomas Hood was having a speculative day when he wrote his far-famed November poem , and clearly he did n’t mature chrysanthemums . My garden is full of color at the moment , provided by these autumn beauties but they are not for today . Over atRambling in the Garden , Cathy ’s memeIn a Vase on Mondayis 8 old age old today and she has challenged us to celebrate it by sharing a vase with no fresh blooms . I have been a bit lax about keep on up with my blog of late . Other thing have got in the way and after seven twelvemonth I feel I am enjoin the same things again and again . However , there will be some exciting new development next year to pen about and meanwhile I ca n’t permit my lovely booster ’s day of remembrance notch by unremarked by me . Most years I grow quite a kitchen stove of flowers for dry out , but this twelvemonth I did n’t trouble so I had to disentangle the garden to see what I could discover . I used my old Staffordshire Ironstone autumn fruits jug to display them in .
rude daylight makes them look a little washed out so I used the flash for the next photo .
I have recycled some heyday from a previous vase which I had go on to see how the flowers would dry out . This is how theMathiasella bupleurides looked in a vase in July . The flower are green at first and then get flush with red .

With the dry flower heads I used the cum head of eryngiums , nigella andClematis rehderiana . This is a lovely primrose- coloured , late flowering clematis which seed about profusely . The seed heads are passably too .
The brownish seeded player head is from my Tree Peony and the curly twigs are fromMeulenbergia astoniiwhich is such a wonderful feature of my wintertime garden . The bright orangish berries are fromIris foeditissimawhich seed all over the garden . Other touch of orange fare from the seed headspring of crocosmia . eatage are endearing for this form of arrangement , I have used the fluffy head of pennisetums , molinia and miscanthus and a few sprigs ofBriza mediasaved along with theMathiasella bupleuroides .
Hood ’s dismal verbal description of November seems far from the truth today . The sun is shining , I fleck a Red Admiral butterfly stroke on the dahlias which are still going strong and a little Turdus migratorius followed me round out the garden . And I just spot this little ladybird who had hitchhike a drive into the house .

congratulation to Cathy who has kept up with this popular meme for so long and who has brought so much pleasure to people all labialize the world . It is lovely to bring efflorescence into the house and share them , specially as the the atmospheric condition gets colder . I have pop up in and out of In a Vase on Monday for the last seven days , but even when I do n’t find time to partake in my vase , I still blame flowers and I delight watch what other people have produced . Thanks Cathy .

Your garden in world-wide offer such a wealth of material , I ’m not at all surprised by the image of material you managed to include in your dry arrangement . In retrospect , I was kick myself for not save Nigella seed header , although at least I did hoard the seeds this class 😉
Oh that ’s a most a most beautiful concoction Chloris . I ’ve missed my mathiesella this year but I ’ve noticed what seems to be the show of a possible small fry . The glistening clematis germ top dog are a treat . Thomas Hood was drop a line well before global warming but I think that poem still sum up a actual grim November day . I wonder what those new developments of yours are and look forth to hearing all about them .
