GPOD on the Road: The Governor’s Garden at Château Ramezay

Step back in time as you explore this French colonial style garden at one of Montreal’s most historic sites

Yesterday we saw a pretty plant Cherry found on the street of Old Montreal , today we ’re carry on our tour of this city with a trip to a historic garden that is a exist representation of the Gallic roots of this Canadian city . cherry red is taking usChâteau Ramezayand itsGovernor ’s Garden .

Chanced upon this garden in 2019 on my first sojourn to Montreal while on a walk tour of Montreal East and West . So of course on our coming back sojourn this August , I had to go back and see it …

It would n’t be a French kitchen garden without an effortlessly eleganttuteur . The orange - colour woods brand on this one is a gross contrast to the ocean of immature herbs and veggies that wall .

Of of course , they ’re even more terrific when they are absolutely covered in a climbing , vining flora . When I visit Paris in 2018 , I tour several parks and garden throughout the metropolis . One feature that filled my camera axial motion and still sticks out in my mind are the multitudinous water fountains and features . While many can be found in the eye of a clearing with an elegant statue spray pee from its centre , many more can be found just like this one : tucked aside and immersed in a World Wide Web of plant . I find these spring to be much more mysterious and sorcerous .

But it ’s clear that , in this garden , everything has a touch of old - world magic . Even this very simple compost pile calculate like something straight out of a fairytale .
