Finding plants that don’t mind the occasional hurricane

Today ’s photos derive from Robin Sams .

My garden is sign with a dozen magniloquent pine trees and waterfront views , but it is challenge with flooding from hurricane . I have good territory and a Zone 8 climate . The front yard is mostly a springtime garden of azalea and camellias with wide true pine straw beds we plan to camouflage flow pine cones .

Behind the work bench I constitute a coral barque Japanese maple(Acer palmatum , Zones 5–9 ) . The red foliation is another fresh Japanese maple Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree .

I love plant blue and white pansies(Viola× wittrockiana , one-year ) in early crepuscle and enjoy their blooms throughout the wintertime until late spring . The pink blooms are the Encore azaleas . My husband build me this magniloquent wench feeder with a copper roof .

Here are two strange peony that come from Terra Ceia , a nursery in Plymouth , North Carolina .

Here in the backyard I haveClematis‘Henryi ’ ( Zones 4–11 ) with large white blooms beside rose and burgundy foliageloropetalum(Loropetalum chinense , geographical zone 7–10 ) , another clematis with lavender blooms and lettuce plants .

Knockout blush wine delineate my front staircase , underlined with blue and white pansies and blue bedding flora .

I love tall blueVerbenabonariensis(Zones 7–10 or as annual ) , a garden giving from a friend . It is squeamish in front look through it at the daisy . I ’ve been transplant it all through my garden .

A honorable look at mydaisies(Leucanthemum × superbum , Zones 5–9 ) . I deadhead them to keep them look fresh and to promote more flower . These plant are several age one-time .

I wanted to plant water lilies in the canal beside our property , but turtle devoured them . So I plant a water lily and a lotus in a 100 - congius horse trough I bought at Tractor Supply . I also total koi fish to use up mosquitos . This has been so much playfulness in my backyard ! I can bend over and easily see the piss lilies and the koi . I ’ve done this for two years now . I just will it be in the wintertime , and the fish hibernate . It did n’t seem practical to drudge a pond that would get flooded and wash out the fish .

I really enjoy my shade garden on the hot day . I love whitened flowers . The variegated leafage works is a lovely spicy lacecap hydrangea(Hydrangea macrophylla , zone 6–9 ) that I grew from a slip from a congenator ’s industrial plant . I have many shadowiness lover growing here under a bay Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree and a large pine tree . you’re able to see Pembroke Creek in the backcloth . See industrial plant like hydrangea with deal cuttings .
