Donna Bogumill of Olympia , Washington share one heck of a garden with us complete with sound and movement .
" I love garden in the Pacific Northwest ! With so many wonderful nursery and an almost limitless palette of plants that grow well here , my big challenge is stop my out - of - control industrial plant lecherousness . Over the past 13 years , I have been steadily expound the garden region over our two acre property in Olympia , Washington . About a third of our place is wooded . We ’ve left most of that natural for the wildlife that share this home with us .
Over the years , I ’ve planted hundred of varieties of perennial , forage , electric light , shrub , and trees . More works seem to follow me home every time I guess out to a garden tour or nursery . The last actor’s line I usually take heed as I head out the room access are " Do n’t take home any more plants . " Like that ’s go to stop me .
I like to focalize on foliage color and grain , peculiarly in the shady domain . I also bask magnanimous gay areas fulfill with both foliage plants and bloom . We added a water feature last twelvemonth , which play unexampled elements of sound and movement to the garden .
This is my favorite metre of class . Many of the May flowers will be fading soon , but that ’s okay . A whole new cast of character — including paeony , astilbe , astrantias , and kousa dogwood tree — are quick to burst onto center stage . That ’s one of the joys of gardening — there ’s always something to front forward to ! "
