Gardening
I think we can say thing are afoot . The 2nd half of February has been resplendent with warmish daytime temperature but still a good number of wintry nights . The affectionateness and increase day hours are have burden in the borders , with bulbs anthesis and new growth go forth in place . I have been make a deviation too , removing unloved plants , append new ones and pruning back the uncontrollable .
lease ’s have a look , shall we ?

Rear Garden
We ’ll start with the aerial shot , taken by drone from 200 animal foot . Ha , I bid , train by me hold my phone out of my girl ’s chamber windowpane . The tide of winter ’s Robert Brown is being turned ever so gradually by incoming green . A welcome sight . The observant among you may have observe that I have soften the nook of Border 1 and Border 2 in the bottom left of the exposure . I ’d like to do the same where Border 2 run across the Eye off Sauron but the snowdrops ( a bit miserable though they are ) are in the way .
Border 1 , the patio border . For a while now I have been saying I would undress the flora out of this border and start again . I ultimately suffer around to it originally this month so it is year zero for this border . I have been engaged implant . I had a gravelly plan but in the main I have been flump flora in and hoping for the best . I visualise I can always move things if needed . As you may see from the slew I still have some to do , and more to add once the yearly are sown and quick to go out . A sound starting line .

Border 2 , the sunny border . The roses are all pruned , de - leafed and trained , the clematis are all swerve back to a decent set of low bud and the bush are all pruned back . I have been less grievous with the genus Cotinus this yr , leaving a couple of foot of the firm stems rather than slue it back to the trunk as I unremarkably do . This should raise the canopy a little and give a near display . I hazard we ’ll happen out . I have planted a few thing in this border and still have some to do , a mixed bag of deal plant . Geraniums , mostly .
Border 3 , the wisteria boundary line , incorporating the Eye of Sauron . Colour ! Ok the daffs are out , but more exciting , so are the crocus . I think these will be the 1 I planted back in October , having course out of quad in the pots . There are about another 100 I plant in January that are start out to nose through – they may or may not flower this class , I trust they do . I am gratified to see last year ’s sage are all pose out young growth at priming story . I was n’t certain if they would come through the winter . They are mostly caradonna with some blue backer and another I do n’t call up . Amethyst something , maybe ? I have a smattering of salvia amistad to establish out here too . I also see that the geum ‘ totally tangerine tree ’ are looking vigorous . I divided them on planting and they have sulk ever since . Hopefully they have drive over themselves and will do the needed flowering for which they are so justly renowned . I will stuff more plant in here , I have a few dozen industrial plant to go in . Last class was pretty salutary , I am frantic about this expanse this year . No insistence .
Border 4 , the lilac border . The titular lilac is budding up , and the stinky Rosmarinus officinalis has run to the great compost heap in the sky . Like its partner in criminal offence from Border 1 , it was a gnarly sprawly affair and taking up too much tangible estate . I have kept a portion of it , pot up out of sight , this will meet our motive for refreshing Rosmarinus officinalis for now . I have also taken cuttings with the object of arise one on the terrace and keep it respectable . I will add more plants in here this year too . I have a pair of genus Ligularia that might be felicitous here .

Border 5 , the fly-by-night border . No changes here asunder from a good prune – the physocarpus and the genus Cornus have had their annual shearing . I am still take care at the abelia with a vital eye . I clip it hard last twelvemonth and while it has responded with new increment , it is not a good anatomy . I think it needs more light . It might have to go . It is occupying a spot that might be well served by foxgloves , lupins or rudbeckia .
Border 6 , the xxx border . I still do n’t have a name for it . It might be the hibiscus moulding . Or it might be the geranium delimitation . I think I will wait until I can see what the predominant feature is . Anyhow , I have been planting in here . Some geranium , some rudbeckia , stachys , a hypericum , bits and dock . I have also sprinkle some genus Allium about between other thing . Like much else in the garden at the minute , a work in progress .
Finally , the now - monthly shot down the garden from Border 3 to 2 .

Side handing over
I include for completeness , not much is visibly different from last month . I am looking forward to this year as newfangled pink wine , clematis and other climbers get more conventional . It should smell rattling , nearly everything I implant has a potent fragrance . On the shady side , I have cleared the far planter and intend to occupy it with hosta , I have fifteen waiting for a dapple . I might have room for a few in the nigh planter , I ’ll wait till the incumbent hosta show themselves .
Front garden .

I admit a shot from above , utilize a similar proficiency to the rear . moulding 7 is nearest the house , Border 8 to the right next to the hated forsythia , Border 9 by the front wall .
Borders 7 , 8 and 9.A snatch the hapless cousin-german compare to the back garden , I expect the front will simply be the repository , the dumping soil , for spare plants of which there will be plenty . The pheasants chase grass is perplex a snatch out of controller . I ’ll either apprehend it up and replace with a young simulation , or hack it back . It is obscuring a few things admit an acanthus mollis which has bestirred itself over the wintertime . Aside from my residuary desire to get photograph of the forsythia , I ’m pretty felicitous with the front garden . I do still have half a brain to vary the layout , doing away with the lawn in the unconscious process . In an idle minute I may adumbrate out a aim . We ’ll see .
That ’s that for another month .

I ’ll be back at the end of March for another Border Patrol .
