A colorful garden that thrills in the summer is just enticing in the latter half of the year
Hi GPODers !
In last week ’s Thanksgiving post ( check that out here if you miss it ) , one of the exposure boast was a peak summertime scene from Anna Tsai ’s garden in Bayside , Wisconsin . Anna has share her colourful midwestern garden several times in the past ( Anna ’s Wisconsin Paradise , Beautiful Combinations in Wisconsin , and21 Years of Hard Gardening workplace Pay Off ) , and today we ’re date her space in twilight . It is absolutely no surprise that her garden are just as colorful and lively during the previous season as they are in the middle of summer .
I would care to deal with you some photo from my garden again . This sentence they are all from my fall garden .

We had a very pissed spring then our summertime and fall was extremely wry and quick . It was quite a challenge that I had to give up dividing some of my plants until next spring . I am hoping that some trees could live .
Anna gets uncoiled to the good stuff : Her fabulous gloam flowers . Bright ruby and yellow sneezeweed ( Heleniumautumnale , Zones 3–8 ) is starting to fade to its globular seed brain , but delicateautumn crocus(Colchicum speciosum , Zones 4–9 ) look to be picking up where sneezeweed is leaving off .
On the shores of Lake Michigan , Anna ’s Bayside garden is the consummate place for some funky Pisces garden fine art . Hanging them from this grayish wall make it look like they ’re swimming amongst her bloom .

Despite the challenges she face in her garden this year , it ’s not showing any house of sputter . A hugepanicle hydrangea(Hydrangea paniculata , Zones 3–8 ) is still absolutely covered in pinkish blooms and all the conifer and shrubs appear bright and lush .
On the other side of that bloom - covered hydrangea , a Chinese silver-tongued grass ( Miscanthussinensis , Zones 4–9 ) has some of the brightest yellow foliage I ’ve ever learn on an ornamental grass . Anna — any theme what cultivar this one is ?
However , the foliage in Anna ’s crepuscule garden knowns no bounds . Yellows are complimented by brilliant crimson and various dark glasses of green . This includes two more grasses , a vary Formosan silver grass ( Miscanthus sinensis‘Variegatus ’ , Zones 4–9 ) at the back of the layer and lower - growing Japanese bloodgrass ( Imperatacylindricavar.rubra , Zones 5–9 ) spreading along the front . Nipponese bloodgrass is highly invasive in southern climates , but less of a menace in Anna ’s Wisconsin garden . Though it should be planted with consideration tosurrounding innate landscape .

move nigher to Anna ’s house , a cheery foundation bed is equally piled with plant for four - season pursuit . Various evergreen plant furnish lasting structure and color , while pink rose put on a daytime show before getting joined by pricklyburr ( Daturainoxia , Zones 9–10 ) blossom at dusk . Another common name for this plant in angel ’s trumpet , but do n’t get it confused with the related holy person ’s cornet in theBrugmansiagenus ( which features likewise - shaped , but pendulous flowers ) .
The hydrangeas in Anna ’s are fear - inspiring ! What a dream to have the space to grow these shrubs to the sizing she does . Of course , I ’m not push aside the beautiful hibiscus ( Hibiscus moscheutos , Zones 5–9 ) supplying a radiant red in the foreground .
A peek at the loveliest of seating areas surrounded by plants , and a closer look at more of Anna ’s incredible hibiscus . The smaller , bright clean variety seem to be Luna ™ lily-white ( Hibiscus moscheutos‘Luna White ’ , Zones 5–9 ) .

Endless bed and layer of sweetheart , and the most adorable small hedgehog statue .
last , Dahlia pinnata are incredible for another dose of color in the late time of year . This peachy - pink color is sublime surrounded by various white bloom .
give thanks you for this fabulous surrender update on your garden , Anna ! Year after year and season after season , your garden stay on to delight .
