It was around 40 degree when I went outside this dawn . Mist hung in the strain like the clouds had come down from heaven .
Over in the food market garden , my roulette wheel hoe stood like a soundless sentinel in the early morn sunshine .
We are blessed to be here . Yesterday we had a 10′ x 20′ shed delivered to the backyard which will service as a shop and storage building .
It ’s going to work quite well , I think . Right now I have some shaft with no office to live , like my old exercise public press , a mitre joint saw , a grinding wheel and a few other things . They ’re mostly sit down on the back porch . With a workshop I have a place to store and use them .
I would really like to work up more melodious cat’s-paw . I ’ve always been a fool for homemade string instruments in particular . Lately I have been face at strumsticks and pose dulcimer and cogitate how coolheaded it would be to work up some from local wood that fall during the two hurricanes . Would n’t it be neat to have a playable pawn made from longleaf pine tree ? Or red oak tree ? Or even magnolia ? Or Carya illinoinsis ? We have some many neat species that are very underutilized in instrument building – I would wish to give some of these woods a try and see how they sing .
Thesehandmade folk instruments from Woodroware quite inspiring . The woodwind are amazing . It makes me want to progress again .
For today , though , I take to work onmy portrait of Maggie . I am close to finishing and already someone else has seen it and desire to commission me to paint a portrayal of their married woman . Maybe I ’ll end up an creative person again after all .
Speaking of art , Jeremiah is almost finish with the upcountry illustration for GARDEN HEAT : A Jack Broccoli Novel . They are looking great .
Once he ’s done , my publishing company can get to publishing !
